West 4th—(January 28, 2021) The nineteenth annual Dine Out Vancouver Festival is back—a tad later than usual in the new year—with its trademark selection of set menus available across town. Courtesy of Tourism Vancouver, we were treated to a preview at the Thai restaurant stalwart Maenam to sample their three-course prix fixe dinner.

Prolific restaurateur/chef and A Fresh Approach to Thai Cooking cookbook author Angus An has managed to maintain a high reputation in Vancouver's culinary circles anchored by his flagship Thai restaurant in Kitsilano.

With its longest run ever and with over 350 participating establishments, Dine Out is allowing for more flexibility and choice with many restaurants also offering takeout and other special offers. Maenam's Thai fare has always been best enjoyed family-style, so theirs is based around shared options on a per person basis ($48).
While some of the dishes chosen felt a little hit or miss, the variety and ingredients tasted fresh and pretty well put together. I also appreciated the abundant selection of specialty cocktails to complement the various Southeast Asian flavours.
Maenam has a nice fancy meets casual vibe even with the spaced-out seating. Their DOVF dishes also felt like a suitable representation of their overall offerings. Dine Out runs from February 5th until March 7th.
