Strathcona—East Hasting's The Garden Strathcona has been open for a couple years now operating as its own little concrete oasis full of plants (lots of them and many for sale) and snacks across the street from Les Amis de Fromage in its changing East Van neighbourhood.
While it's certainly been a minute since I have strewn myself around to various coffee shops or my usual stomping grounds, I forgot how much I missed just being in a café surrounded by random people.
Serving fair trade Agro Coffee Roasters beans, the Garden's coffee is certainly up to par with a slimmed down variety of espresso drinks and alternative milk options.
Blume latte (with lavender spirulina) + chewy salted chocolate chip cookie
I found The Garden Strathcona to be a charming spot for a cup of java, snack, or quick meal enhanced by a cozy vibe with a cool industrial warehouse design to its shop and café. It's a fine place to hide away thanks to its abundance of greenery and refined contemporary design aesthetic.
