"A small bakery, filled with joy and carbs."
Commercial Drive—Due to the closure of dine-in restaurants and most non-essential businesses over the public health concerns around the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID–19) in British Columbia, many Vancouver eateries have been forced to switch to takeout and delivery only service in order to stay open safely.
To support their efforts, I decided to try out one of Livia Forno e Vino's new takeout meal kits available for next-day pick-up at their Italian bakery location on one of my few trips outside of self-isolation.
I ordered a pre-prepared tagliatelle alla bolognese pasta meal kit with the following ingredients included in their convenient take-home box package to-go:
- house made tagliatelle pasta
- bolognese sauce
- parmesan cheese
- mixed greens
- vinaigrette
- rosemary focaccia bread
- pistachio frangipani tart
Other local restaurants doing takeout/pick-up/delivery I recommend:
- Cómo Taperia
- DownLow Chicken Shack and Burgers
- Flourist Mill & Bakery
- Juke Fried Chicken
- La Taqueria Pinche Taco Shop
- Miku and Minami Restaurant
- Pepino's Spaghetti House
- Saku Tonkatsu
- Torafuku Modern Asian Eatery
I'm not sure exactly what kind of world we're going to emerge from when this pandemic finally subsides to safe public levels, especially for so many struggling local restaurants and small businesses. I hope we can find creative solutions with some desperately needed greater public support to rebuild and come back together again soon.
In the meantime, please stay safe and well-fed.
