False Creek—(February 6, 2020) Another sold-out Science of Cocktails event, Science World's fifth annual signature charitable fundraiser, took place last week bringing out dozens of Vancouver's most libatious bartenders and mixologists to serve 1,500 attendees all in support of the successful Class Field Trip Program.
Negroni Vortex (with Campari, sweet vermouth, gin, and pearlescence powder)
With thirty-five creatively-made interactive drink stations (up from last year) serving different scientifically-themed hand-crafted cocktails, the adults-only event continues to be a bigger and more raucous affair every year.
Cinema Highball (with butter-washed rum, cola, citric acid, and popcorn)
Robotic Russian (with vodka, cold brew coffee syrup, and cream) from MakerLabs' BarBot
Of course, all proceeds from SOC's tickets sales—a cumulative $1.2-million since its inception in 2016 including an estimated total of $280,000 this year—goes towards funding school trips to Science World for over 9,000 students from underserved Lower Mainland elementary schools.
Empress and tonic (with Empress 1908 gin and bitters)
sous vide reverse osmosis old fashioned (with whisky and dry ice)
The beneficiary Class Field Trip Program covers between half and all of the cost of admission and bus transportation for classes. For every $800 raised, Science World can invite up to two classes to visit its venue. Since 2017, more than 23,000 students have benefitted from the program thus far.
