Whistler—(October 23 to 24, 2019) A small group of us were invited on a guys-only media trip to experience the still newish Pangea Pod Hotel located in the middle of the mountain village. As the first pod hotel in Canada, Pangea aims to offer modern delights and amenities in an affordable package when staying at the (usually expensive) resort town.

At the hotel itself, I found the fifty-square-foot pods designed by Bricault Design fairly spacious and comfy. Featuring eight different suites with slightly different layouts and pod room variations (eighty-eight pods in total), the compartmentalized spaces were modern, innovative, and pleasing to stay inside the Pangea.

For lunch, we hit up the tasty Hunter Gather Restaurant for their local grub made from fresh meats and selection of craft beer. At night for supper, our group strolled over for some charming and delicious fare from Alta Bistro (a favourite of locals) for a dynamite meal of specialty dishes including their delicious elk tartare cannoli (a must-try).
It was a jam-packed day-and-a-half of sights to see and things to do. Our final activity before leaving Whistler after our night stay at Pangea was an exhilarating outdoor zip-lining experience from Ziptrek Ecotours—riding down and across the mountain into the village. Amidst the beautiful backdrop of nature and greenery, the thrilling experience zipping down five scenic zip tracks (safely and securely) was a cannot miss activity.
