WEEKENDER | Vancouver Craft Beer Week 2019

Hastings–Sunrise—(May 30 and June 8, 2019) The tenth annual Vancouver Craft Beer Week took place last week with its many ale related activities including their always fun kickoff opening party, located this year at Beaumont Studios, as well as the now massive, flagship two-day closing weekend festival on the PNE Fairgrounds—where it's been a fixture the last few years.

Starting off with a raucous backyard type parking lot refresher full of coolers filled with tallboy cans in between the area's galleries, studios, and industrial art spaces in the heart of Mount Pleasant, VCBW kicked off in casual fashion with special guests and local ambassadors including Mayor Kennedy Stewart declaring the week's start.

Outside of the plethora of ales, beer week has consistently and steadily highlighted more local arts and cultural works over the years in tandem with the many talented brewers from everything to live music and bands to the creative designers that create all that colourful beer-related branding.

Such a big and still community-focused endeavour to showcase the many aspects of craft beer making and the people behind the industry, VCBW's sights are even bigger than ever.

What continues to be most appealing is the variety and diversity of the local and wider beer communities' output with everything from crazy flavour collaborations and carefully refined batches brewed for specific tastes.

It's both impressive and daunting how big VCBW has become in its tenth year. Hopefully, they are capable of keeping the same mix of passion or enthusiasm for craft beer advocacy while also maintaining the same growth and health of their communities.
