BEERFEST | Funky x Electric Bicycle Brewing x Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant—One of Vancouver's newer and definitely funkier craft breweries, Electric Bicycle Brewing's tasting room has quietly made itself a standout in the crowded beer scene with its uniquely original attitude inside and out of its industrial and well-populated Brewery Creek neighbourhood.



I would best describe Electric Bicycle's operations as having an abundance of funk. From the decor to their offbeat beer flavours, their style is just as much about personality as anything.

I feel like deciding on what beer to order is especially tough with all of their more ambitious, strange efforts.



On my first visit after their initial opening, I very much dug the root beer flavoured brew for its blend of classic soda tastes with hoppy beer goodness.

More recently, I drank their Sasquatch brown ale (aka "I Saw What I Saw") and winter radler and they were both interesting and refreshing. The former with its Sasquatch hops offered an appealing, malty flavour (with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg) while the latter was a sweet meets spiced libation.



Easily among Vancouver's more original breweries, EBB offers a very homey, personal vibe in its small but comforting "beer factory" tasting room. Cheers.
