Commercial Drive—(June 7, 2018) Nashville style hot fried chicken is coming to East Vancouver by way of Merchant's Workshop chefs/owners, husband-and-wife duo Doug Stephen and Lindsey Mann, with their brand new DownLow Chicken Shack.
Early on and so far, the fried chicken is quite delicious with a simple menu of cuts with your choice of spice level ranging from classic, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and "side of milk".
quarter dark chicken (thigh and drumstick on toast with pimento cheese macaroni salad)
Make no mistake, this is a full-on shack with the same dingy charm (much cleaner though) of its modest thousand-square-foot, twenty-four seat counter-service restaurant, small bar, and planned patio seating.
hot chicken sandwich (with sweet and sour coleslaw and house pickles on a milk bun)
After a successful trial run perfecting their recipe and operations, DownLow officially opens on Wednesday.
Fries on the DL (spiced crinkle-cut fries, slaw, cheddar, pickles, red onions, and a boneless chicken thigh)
Update: DownLow has launched a secret menu with new forthcoming chicken concoctions and items to be announced.More | YVArcade / Courier / Scout / Straight / Van Mag
