Coal Harbour—(January 23, 2017) Muji Canada's pop-up store and accompanying Japan Unlayered exhibition at Fairmont Pacific Rim are hotly anticipated attractions opening this weekend. Muji is bringing its popular line of stationery products, aroma diffusers, streamlined storage bins, and stylish notepads to their makeshift storefront.
In addition to the pop-up and alongside a Beams Japan street style section inside Giovane Cafe, developers Westbank and Peterson unveiled a larger architectural exhibition titled "Japan Unlayered" from master Japanese architect Kengo Kuma highlighting Muji's traditional minimalist design aesthetic and exploring contemporary Japanese design culture.
Furthermore, two permanent Muji Canada locations were announced to open by the end of the year on Robson Street and inside Metropolis at Metrotown mall in Burnaby. Robson's location is set to occupy 10,000-square-feet in size and become Muji's largest Canadian outpost to date.
Muji's pop-up opens to the public tomorrow and goes until February 28th. Demand has been so high they have instituted a reservation system to avoid crowding and long lines from forming at the temporary retail space inside the hotel lobby.
