Fairview Slopes—The new Yolk's Breakfast eatery on West Broadway near Cambie Street is another evolution of the popular food truck after its Strathcona Commissary. This location is modelled more like a quick and casual breakfast diner in the bustling area.
For something new, I went with Yolk's Belgian waffles (with maple syrup, butter, and double smoked bacon). They were suitably crisp on the outside and fluffy inside for a comforting taste heightened by the clean and crunchy bacon strips served on the side. To drink, the house made, iced Callebaut chocolate milk was a sweet and cool but understated liquid treat.
When you first walk in the door, you are overwhelmed with the smell of truffle oil tempting you to order the tasty truffle-lemon hash browns (with lemon, sea salt, and chives). They remain as simple but delectable as ever.
After only a short time in operation, the new Yolk's is already a busy fixture in the Fairview neighbourhood for its all-day breakfast eats and local charm.
I recommended getting there just before or after the usual lunch rush for much easier seating.
