False Creek—(May 15, 2015) On night two of U2's global kick-off to their Innocence + Experience Tour, the four Irish rockers continued to show fans everything they are made of musically inside a sold out Rogers Arena. The world tour (delayed after Bono's cycling accident) is in support of their thirteenth studio album, Songs of Innocence, among their most autobiographical albums to date after nearly forty years together. As a result, the show reflected many aspects of their (troubled) youths while paying tribute to their early musical influences.
It was an "intimate" feeling set yet still a big and raucous arena concert with an elaborate stage setup (called the "Spaceship") where the band moved the length of the show floor constantly, performing across the arena with a moving two-sided screen positioned right down the middle.
The show featured many treats including a literal walk down memory lane for "Cedarwood Road", fan interactions, a memorable tribute to the recently passed blues legend B.B. King, and piano/acoustic performances. Bono also made much comedic hay of guitarist The Edge's fall off stage the night before throughout the show.
