Canucks Sports & Entertainment's hospitality media tour and preview at Rogers Arena on September 3, 2014.
On and off the ice, the Vancouver Canucks are going through big changes. From a corporate standpoint, new leadership and the continued stable, local ownership of the Aquilini Investment Group have mandated new and improved fan and hospitality experiences within Rogers Arena. This means a completely revamped and overhauled food and drink experience starting from the kitchen out. Along with the changes comes major renovations, new amenities offered, and construction of a 26-storey attached residential tower.
Part of the overhaul includes brand new kitchen facilities, concourse expansions, and revamped suites with the new Loge Club for exclusive premium guests.
As for the food, the menu is completely revamped by Executive Chef Robert Barkley including eats like the east coast lobster and smoked west coast salmon rolls to feed 19,000 fans nightly.
New director of wine and beverage Jay Jones was excited by the prospects including ripping out the twenty-year-old tap and keg systems and expanding their offerings including craft cocktails at their new concourse bars.
Steamer's hog dog stand, named after legendary Canucks player and executive Stan Smyl, will feature 12 new varieties of gourmet hot dogs.
The standout was the bacon-wrapped Bartley’s signature dog (with onions and cheddar cheese). The Bavarian inspired Glendon perogy dog (with potato and cheese perogies, sauerkraut, onions, sour cream, and chives) was a novelty treat.
It was hard not to water at the sight of the croque monsieur dog (with ham and melted cheese). The carved AAA prime rib sandwiches was another tasty treat for good measure.
Off the ice, it should definitely be an interesting season. On the ice, we'll see... The Canucks staff promised construction inside will be completed in time for game one of the regular season.
