Mark Brand Inc. (think of Boneta, The Diamond, and Save On Meats fame) previewed his/their newest Gastown bar, music venue, and all around eatery to great anticipation last night.
Boasting 24 beers on tap (6 local, 6 Canadian, 6 American, 6 international), the Portside has gone full hog with the nautical and wood crafted theme.
It really is quite hard to believe this basement nightclub locale comes from the ashes of Post Modern dance bar and its many previous incarnations.
Brand and company have brought a lot of character and a certain cool, unspeakable charm once again by reinventing a well known, local space and staple into something both old and new again.
Portside is easily lining up to be the hip, new place folks will flock to grab a beer and hang out. The seaside joint opens up at 5pm tonight. Cheers to that.
