Lunch at Kitanoya Guu Richmond inside Aberdeen Centre in Richmond on November 24, 2012.
For a late Saturday afternoon lunch, Janice and I hit up Aberdeen mall for some Guu'd bento boxes.
I enjoy the popular izakaya's daily lunch and bento specials. She ordered the eel bento box (very top) filled with a variety of assorted meats, seafood, sashimi, and a California roll. The chicken was a little bland and tasteless, but the eel and other bits seemed satisfying and filling.
My November bento box was quite good. It was probably more variety than I wanted, but I was feeling a little more adventurous than my standard fried udon noodles or rice bowls. The box was filled with mackarel, pork belly, egg, spot prawn, salmon sashimi, and shrimp salad.
On the side, we shared a five piece chicken karaage. It was crispy and nice, but the mayo was a little odd and tasteless.
I moderately enjoyed the quick meal at Guu. The izakaya and its many satellites are always good for fun lunch specials and combinations.
