Eating and drinking at Richmond Night Market food stands next to River Rock Casino on September 14, 2012.
I finally made it over to the latest incarnation of the original Richmond Night Market in its new, spacious digs by the casino.
I was never a big fan of the other location and the Summer Night Market incarnation. However, I quite enjoyed the scale and many food options at this new one.
Obviously, we went after all the food and many, many stands of Asian cuisine. For dessert, there was the fresh mango sago pomelo with coconut milk from Mango Yummy (left) and a mango tapioca icy from Icy Bar (right). I really enjoyed the mango sago pomelo and its rich flavour and coconut goodness.
We shared a small signature cup of squids from The Squid Co., watching it being fried up in front of us.
There was just way too much squid for anyone to eat in this cup (a small no less). It was good enough just overwhelming and disappointing eaten in a large quantity.
Chef James Xin Jiang Man BBQ was unmissable at his meat skewer stand and grill, playing up to the crowd. I can see why his grilled meat is so popular.
We were tempted by the $12 roasted pork hock plate from the rotisserie at the Original Oktoberfest Style food stand. It was ridiculously huge. The pork was moist and flavourful with a very crispy skin and very well cooked.
My first venture into the night market scene in ages was fun and I look forward to returning and trying more of all the different food stands galore.
