Vancouver Daze, Volume 80: Gather Pop-Up shop at 1 West Cordova (old Boneta space) in Gastown on July 27, 2012. Published in Vancouver Is Awesome.
Pop-up shops are rapidly becoming all the rage. This is double for an intersection of art and commerce like Vancouver.
En vogue, artistic folk and the co-founder behind Cargoh set up shop in the heart of Gastown for a three day art and design fair last weekend, appropriately called Gather.
Twenty hand picked local designers partnered with dangerously creative workshops (dubbled "Workshopaholics") in taking over the local space for the weekend.
They aimed for mixture of creativity, collection, and most of all community with this artistic endeavour.
The theme was moving forward in a frontier of urban social space and design.
There was a cavalcade of everything from fashion to food, popsicles to pottery, music to mixology.
Roving forward, the packed downtown shop attracted all kinds of creative types with the ornate displays, ceiling mirrors, and lavish setups to promote work from local community.
