East Van Love Tweetup #5 at Hai Phong Vietnamese Restaurant on Kingsway on March 22, 2012. Photos by Jeremy Lim Photography.
Hard to believe, East Van Love is going five volumes strong with its latest edition of their East Vancouver neighbourhood meetup (and this time, eat up).
For the uniformed, this tweetup was organized (by community leader Ajay Masala-Puri) to highlight the cultural contributions of the East Van neighbourhood. Fittingly, the theme was "food in your community" set in this family run Vietnamese dining establishment.
(Above: BCIT Broadcast Journalism student Angela Jung interviewing attendees.) Food experts and aficionados were recruited speak on the scene in East Van.
I still remember the very first tweetup (documented here) at the veterans legion hall. The presence and love in the community has come a long way. The local pride and representation is always a nice fixture in exploring our hyper local cultural identities.
Going strong, East Van Love number six looks to explore the acerbic topic of social innovation mixed with community organizer Amy Tran (very top) explaining her obsession with cats. Only in East Vancouver.
