Vancouver Daze, Volume 57: 2012 BC Home + Garden Show media launch party and pulled pork competition at BC Place Stadium on February 22, 2012. Published in Vancouver Is Awesome.
The BC Home & Garden Show kicked off yesterday with its media preview and launch party.
Predictably, I gobbled up treats and fried meat catering from Memphis Blues BBQ on the show floor amidst trade displays and product showcases.
We enjoyed some good ol' fashioned barbeque roasted pork, cornbread, and prawns in Karoleena Homes' "The Kitsilano" portable show home inside BC Place Stadium.
The set piece was the battle for the best BBQ pulled pork competition next to the "ultimate man's backyard" on the entertainment stage with Memphis Blues, Re-Up BBQ and President’s Choice Recipe to Riches winner Robert Luft.
The judges including Follow Me Foodie's Mijune Pak instensely sampled the goods before deliberating on their pics (Luft won). There was a jib jab of activities going on just outside of the show floor as exhibitors got set up for the public displays.
One of the highlights was the upstairs Luxe Loos display featuring upscale, fancied up outhouses complete with indoor amenities and even a chandelier in one.
The show is on now until Sunday for industry folks and the public alike. The show floor had a interesting, diverse mix of home products and all sorts of designer goods.
