End of Summer Tweetup at The Charlatan Restaurant on Commercial Drive on August 29, 2011.
Last night was the End of Summer Tweetup at The Charlatan on the Drive. It was for me the third time there in a few weeks.
A bunch of online friends showed up to drink and chat in East Van.
The beer paddles were on special, 3 minis for $5 making for about 1.5 pints. It was a good, but a dangerous, deadly deal as the beers went down much easier and smoother.
I rolled in with Dennis with his lovely fiancé May. Less than a month until the big day.
A popular choice for eats was the pulled pork poutine.
Lindsay sure enjoyed it (above). It was ridiculously meaty and hearty, even too much so. It made it hard to eat and finish with its richness in flavour.
The nachos were absolutely ridiculous, one of the best in the city. It could have used more cheese to bind the toppings together, but we got chorizo on it, making it even more superb.
I placed third in the cocktail recipe contest. My drink included vodka, cranberry juice, soda water, mint, and lime. It was quite delicious.
Hanging out with folks like Popcorn-ers like Nick and Amy is always a delight among Vivian, Dot, Ray, and many others.
I also chatted with Christina and Tien about the generalities of living and student life.
It was a fun, casual tweetup drinking up on a random Monday night. I joked, it had been a long week that deserved beers early in the evening.
"My cocktail recipe: Rum, coke, brown paper bag, parking lot in East Van."
