Vancouver Daze, Volume 25: Nadia Albano Style Inc. boutique studio opening on Granville Street on July 14, 2011. Published in Vancouver Is Awesome.
I hopped down to the underground basement opening of a new all-in-one beauty saloon hiding under the mean streets of the Granville strip.
The proprietor of the titular Nadia Albano Style Inc. (above) was a real charmer in the quaint little space. Everyone remarked its speakeasy vibe, only missing eyehole door sliders, secret passwords, and back room gambling halls.
The margarita mix martinis infused with tequila were dangerous as we hung out by the drink stand with the lovely Melissa Joaquin handing them out.
It got heated and stuffy pretty quickly but the organizers wisely brought out some industrial fans to cool things down. It was intimate (and crowded) to say the least.
I chatted it up with with marketers like Ovey Yeung, Rebecca Cheung, and professonals Olivia Lovenmark, Stephanie Jhala, along with my +1 for the evening, the famous Dennis Pang (right).
Nadia is a well-known makeup artist, hair stylist, fashion consultant, and educator starting this venture with a ones-stop beauty shop.
The goodies and treats were delicious. My absolute favourite was the espresso macaroon (deadly).
Nadia made sure I personally got an espresso (the actual drink) and had it with a chocolate spoon melting into the coffee. Yum.
It was a fun night of beauty, style, and entertainment at the secluded location. Out of place in a room full of professional women, everyone asked how I came to be at the event. The women of beauty, style, and fashion know how to be professionally presentable and classy just as their affair was.
