Mamak Cafe eat and tweetup in Gastown on June 21, 2011.
Dennis Pang organized a quick, casual tweetup merging his various regular dine out groups amassing nearly twenty people all from Twitter.
The food was really good. Many thought it was too spicy, but I dug it. It made for fun, group dining in an interesting locale.
We were all packed in the tiny eatery that encompassed not only a Malaysian restaurant but an Ethiopian one too, Afro-Canadian Restaurant, and a small bakery kiosk to boot.
In between dishes, everyone would mingle about to different tables trying to make sure to see and meet everyone.
Here's a shot of Vanessa Chu and photographer Jeremy Lim being silly as always.
Walking to the restaurant, I ran into Linzi (left) on the street, a block away, and invited her along. I sat with her, Jessie Cheng, and Tomasz.
We also ran into random people who recognized or noticed us from the street or read us on Twitter and dropped by from the neighbourhood.
The set meal only set us all back 15 bones as I'm sure the small place was happy to be packed on a Tuesday night along with trending in Vancouver.
I was astounded by the good turnout. Dennis actually had to turn away a lot folks who decided to come late.
It was a fun, scrumptious night.
Afterward, a bunch of us checked out the copious amounts of street music all over Gastown celebrating Fête de la Musique.
