Greek Day 2011 open air street market and public festival on the streets of West Broadway in Kitsilano with Angela Jung on June 26, 2011.
Angela and I hit up the mean streets of Kitsilano to explore the Greek festivities.
We were hungry for some grub.
Before we grabbed some Greek fried kalamari (above), we gobbled up some chicken souvlaki and smokies (below).
There was barbecued meats everywhere.
By the evening, the streets were smokey with the waffling musk of smokey meats.
It was refreshing seeing so many families out in full force with toddlers and strollers abound.
It's really nice to see all the different communities and suburbs of Vancouver embrace the open air markets and cultural celebrations of our neighbours.
Running into familiar faces and friends, it was clear everyone was having a good time, spending a few hours soaking in the sights, sounds, and foods our Greek friends showed off.
There were a few Greek themed patrons including warriors, gods and goddesses among many togas.
The public was out on the streets packed to the brim on a fine Sunday afternoon and so was the sun. It was a great, sunny day for strolling the neighbourhood.
It was definitely fun times walking the Broadway open market.
