Phở and bánh mì for lunch at Au Petit Café on Main Street in Riley Park–Little Mountain on March 11, 2011.
Despite everyone's raves, I had still never formally been to what's considered one of the best Vietnamese eateries in East Vancouver, Au Petit Café.
My standard for Vietnamese food is understandably high. The sandwiches or "bánh mì" from Au Petit are always scrumptious and delectable.
I have had that taken out before. However, I am just not than enthralled with shredded chicken, but that's me.
The phở itself looked good and my dining partners sure enjoyed it.
The consistency of the broth did look good. No matter, it's hard to compare with what I am use to at home.
I had the rice and pork chops. The portions were good and the meat and rice were tasty and quite filling.
I enjoyed it but I missed not having it grilled as customary.
It was a very enjoyable meal and mostly lived up to the hype. There was a busy lunch rush when we arrived and had a long wait, but it was worth it. I will happily return.
