Dinner at Acme Cafe in Gastown on August 18, 2010.
After producing and shooting my CBC story and finally getting to try the food at Acme the first time, I have been looking to come back ever since. I was going to be in the neighbourhood and made sure I got to drop by and enjoy some more good old comfort food.
I actually tweeted I would be having dinner at Acme right before heading over to W2 and solicited any followers to join me. To my delight when I arrived, Nicky, an interior designer, was already seated, doing some work expected me to show up.
Her chicken pot pie looked and seemed pretty good. Nicky said it was good-tasting and flavourful. I love the simple presentation of their dishes and the careful detail of the food.
I had the meatloaf with potatoes and gravy. I cannot remember the last time I had meatloaf, but this was a tasty, meaty dish that was very filling. I enjoyed the rich, thick loaf. It was pretty delicious.
My pal, Monica, had the daily quiche with brie cheese and cranberries in it. She had nothing but positive things to say about its taste and consistency. It sure looked good.
Unfortunately, there was no time for pie, which made me sad. It was, however, another stellar dining experience. I adore the friendly, nostalgic, old school diner. It was another classic, enjoyable dining experience. It was the first time there for both my dining partners and they agreed that they were also looking forward to returning and sampling more of the menu.
