Vancouver Foodster's 1-year anniversary party at Canvas Lounge in Gastown on July 28, 2010.
This food party celebrating Richard Wolak's Vancouver Foodster's one-year anniversary was a wonderful evening of food and good company.
It seemed like most of the notable Vancouver Twitter community was there on the scene.
I had the pleasure of being accompanied by my newest acquittance, the lovely Miss Angela Jung. Trekking down to Gastown, we were absolutely famished. Most of the guests headed over from work downtown like moi. I was surprised at how dressy and fancy everyone looked.
I got to finally meet a bunch of great tweeps like Maurice Li, a very tired and sweaty Jeremy Lim, Nicolb, and Dennis Pang. Also, seeing so many familiar faces like Sarah Wong and Vanessa Chu was really nice too. I am a little sad I missed out on meeting a bunch of cool people I did not realize were there until I left.
Canvas Lounge is like a maze of side rooms, bar counters and lounging areas. The spots with food samples were ample and plentiful. And there was space up and down everywhere, popping up with all kinds of treats and delicacies.
The dessert section in particular was splendid. Nimby gave out full burgers handed out by girls dressed as old school cigarette girl vendors.
My favourite treat was the cookies and cream cupcake by Cake Tease which was delicious and just like eating real cookies with cream.
I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food and its diversity. My friends and I left stuffed full of tasty eats. There was a lot of food and I ate so much I could not properly take pictures as I usually do. I apologize for the poor quality but I just did not have the time and space.
It was a really fun night putting Twitter feeds and avatars to real-life faces. It's always really interesting to meet online personalities and make that connection in the real world. It was actually quite hard trying to figure out who people were; I suggest name tags next time.
Also, the mini lamb burgers were really tasty and worth the long line down in the lower part of the lounge. Everyone kept asking what the long line was for.
I thought it was another great night of social networking and great food.
Everyone involved in planning and preparing the event and its fine cuisine should be proud.
Congratulations to Vancouver Foodster for an epic one-year party.
