False Creek—(August 18, 2016) Vancouverites once again gathered en masse and descended down to Concord Pacific Place, this year's not-so secret location, dressed head-to-toe in their finest summer whites to celebrate the fifth annual Dîner en Blanc Vancouver outdoor dinner party into night.
A record-breaking 6,000 guests strong—1,500 more than last year—with a third of attendees being first-timers marched down to set up for The Social Concierge organized event.
It's always impressive marvelling at how well-organized and fairly flawless the massive undertaking usually goes for such a big-scale, outdor public event.
As always, the nine o' clock magic hour when guests light up their sparklers in unison to celebrate the culmination of the evening's festivities is a stunning moment I look forward to every year despite all the hassle and trudging to organize the secretive annual event.
Capturing these moments can be a mad scramble to try and document the moment of celebration. There's nothing like it and it no doubt keeps many loyal attendees returning each year while inspiring those on the massive waitlist.
Part mystery, part magic, part je ne sais quoi.
FYI, this year's alternative, black-themed Ce Soir Noir takes place later on August 30th at Crab Park.
