Beerfest at Main Street Brewing Company's tasting room off Main Street in Mount Pleasant on June 1 and 10, 2014.
"The main thing is the beer!" Main Street Brewing finally opened its doors and tasting room at its 1913 heritage building location off East 7th Avenue and Scotia Steet last week.
The hundred-year-old structure is charming and full of character as they've done quite a renovation and revitalization of the old brewery.
As for the beer, I was pleased by the selection of casks including this golden kellerbier (a German style "cellar beer"). It was delightfully refreshing setting the mood for summer and sunshine.
Connected by a hallway to their lounge is a separate, spacious growler fill station and retail space adorned by a wall of hanging growlers. Everything seems to have a nice clean wood finish throughout with a bright feel and white decor.
I also partook in a cask version of their brown ale (dry hopped with cascade) with its nice, refreshing flavour.
It's great to see how Main Street Pilsner has evolved into a full-blown craft brewery with a solid selection of brews on tap. It should fit nicely into the Mount Pleasant craft brewing trifecta with neighbours 33 Acres and Brassneck all surrounding each other.

"Building a bar top can be thirsty work."
