The Fox Cabaret open house and soft opening on Main Street in Mount Pleasant on February 28, 2014.
Vancouver's Fox Cinema was a notoriously sleazy fixture in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood as the very last North American theatre house to show pornographic 35mm film prints.
From those ashes, the Arrival Agency has completely revamped the entire space after a year-long transformation into a multi-purpose live music and entertainment venue to feature all sorts of art and culture shows.
Think heavy cabaret themes in a very chic decor mixed with a hip, trendy atmosphere in this dance club and bar/lounge (reminiscent of the Rickshaw Theatre).
The Fox takes over as a permanent venue in East Vancouver to fill the void left by the Waldorf Hotel's closing.
Everything's still a work in progress as the upstairs bar is to be finished later this month ahead of their official grand opening in April. Until then, they'll be open on an event by event basis as they tinker things out.
Fox's "soft" launch certainly piqued interest with everyone anticipating their "hard" opening. Hopefully, they get it up (and running) in time. (Snicker.)
