Portland Trip: Tacos from ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria in the Hawthorne District on August 15, 2013.
On our first stop for grub in the weird but awesome dining mecca of Portland, we went for some great Mexican food and tacos at ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria.
A couple of pint-sized margaritas (regular and pomegranate) was in order and proved quite refreshing.
I had a couple of tacos: the chorizo (with Rainshadow El Rancho pork, topped with onions, cilantro, crema and queso fresco from Ochoa Queseria in Albany) and the pescado (with crispy cornmeal encrusted Newman’s line caught Alaskan cod, topped with crema, cabbage, salsa verde, onions, cilantro and pineapple). Both were tasty and delicious with tons of fresh and filling, high quality ingredients.
I was a happy camper dining at the hip, authentic Mexican eatery.
A couple other highlights from the table were the calamari taco (with spicy wild squid sautéed with peppers, topped with crema, spicy salsa roja, and pico de gallo) and...
As well, the camarones taco (with spicy sautéed wild shrimp topped with crema, cabbage, salsa verde, onion, cilantro, and pineapple) was an appetizing option.
It's hard to beat PQN for their great selection of eats and drinks. I loved the ornate decor and open garage door setting.
