Shanghainese food for lunch at Dinesty Chinese Restaurant in Richmond on December 2, 2012.
A bunch of us gathered for Sunday lunch at one of my favourite Chinese restaurants for some delicious Shanghainese style food.
Obviously, we had to start off with some of Dinesty's award-winning steamed xiaolongbao pork soup dumplings, best in the city (even if on the small side).
The special pork hock with vegetables (an hour wait) was really soft and moist. My standard scallop and egg fried rice was very solid.
I was a mildly disappointed in the underwhelming beef rolls, while the and long, skinny pork gyōza dumplings were quite crispy and tasty.
I thought the rice cakes with beef was very satisfying and hearty as was the shredded pork pancakes.
There's not much to say. The food and variety at Dinesty is always up to par at very good prices (less than twenty bucks a person all in). I also appreciate the pictures of every dish on the menu for easy made ordering.
