Ford Motor Co. and Lincoln Canada's VIP luncheon at the Vancouver Art Gallery rooftop pavilion on March 30, 2012.
On this cloudy Friday afternoon, Dennis and I popped by the art gallery rooftop for a private auto industry luncheon to kick off the upcoming auto show festivities and Lincoln MKZ concept car launch.
Ford Motor Co.'s manager of global trends and futurist Sheryl Connelly talked about consumer branding and the rise and fall of luxury brands during the economic crisis and recession.
It was actually quite fascinating and informative on the psychology behind wealthy consumer habits and global trends.
Eating outside on the rooftop pavilion, we started off munching on some wild greens with toasted hazelnuts and artisan tiger blue cheese, Okanagan apple chips, red endive and apple cider vinaigrette.
I had the grilled beef tenderloin served with handmade gnocchi, tomato fondant, fine green beans, and wild mushroom jus.
Dennis ate the Arctic char with lemon pine nut beurre blanc, seasoned with preserved lemon and tomato concassé, served with roasted squash, green beans, and crisp sage and pano gremolata, smashed new red potatoes with herbs, and parmasen cheese.
The chocolate caramel dessert trio of butterscotch pudding (my favourite), chocolate mousse pâté, and chocolate dolce sandwich cookie were simply delicious.
It was certainly a nice way to spend a Friday lunch hour, prepping for the 2012 Vancouver International Auto Show.
