The Buzz Entrepreneur Event from The Buzz Group at Xi Shi Lounge in the Shangri-La Hotel on November 24, 2011.
The Buzz Event ventured outside of the Granville club scene and strip to the new Xi Shi Lounge for a more intimate networking session.
The event has grown leaps and bounds. With it, comes struggles to balance the ferocious need for mixing, socializing, and networking with hearing from career professionals delivering thoughtful advice.
This was so much so that by the end of the speakers' session, the conversational noise and voices drowned out the speakers as everyone talked shop at the back, in the lobby, and outside the lounge.
This is a biproduct of their own success with everyone eager to meet and greet.
Blenz Coffee founder and sponsor George Moen's bizarre, expletive-filled rant against Starbucks and "kicking their ass" was comical and quite amusing.
With the three industry speakers, sponsors, and a student pitch, in addition to socializing and photo booths, there was often a little too much going on at times in the relatively secluded corner lounge.
The cupcakes by Steph Sia and Dolce Delights were a crowd pleaser. A lot was compacted into a night of networking. The expansion from the meet and greet bar attitude has brought with it more and more ambition.
I commend the organizers for their passion for community building within young entrepreneurial circles and how they continue to grow and grow.
