Xi Shi Lounge launch party at the Shangri-La Hotel on October 12, 2011.
The Shangri-La downtown luxury hotel revamped their lobby lounge, going with an ancient Oriental twist. Last night, they invited industry folks and guests to check out the intimate corner space.
The lounge is aiming to be a tribute to the ancient Chinese goddess of the Lotus Blossom, Xi Shi, and the hotel's own titular Shangri-La heritage, but with a contemporary touch.
They placed homages to classic cocktail culture throughout the lounge with servers dressed in tailored, traditional dress, among other Asian touches.
The (mostly caucasian) waitresses sported Sino chic attire and uniforms reminiscent of 1930s Shanghai.
It was fun times during happy hour. I look forward to checking out the lounge again and seeing what they do with the intimate space.
The next Buzz Event will be held at Xi Shi on November 24. See you there.
