Black & Blue steakhouse and restaurant grand opening party from The Glowbal Collection on Alberni Street on October 28, 2011.
Glowbal's brand new steakhouse was spectacularly decorated, decked out in gold trim for the night before opening.
The food and drinks were quickly flowing during the media preview portion before the lights were dimmed and a selection of dance and 1980's pop music took over to host the rest of the VIPs and guests.
The party started early, after work on a booming Friday night. It was hard to feel the time it really was, partying in the early evening.
The drinks were ample including the easy going down French martinis and strong bourbon sours across two floors overlooking the massive centre bar and atrium.
A bunch of us, including Queenie Cao, Janice Leung from Good Eat, and Amy Smith from The Food Queen (above), mostly hid out in the corner booth next to the kitchen avoiding the massive bar crowd.
Myself, Queenie and Kevin Wu from 604 Foodtography took a very chili tour of the meat cooler with Chef de Cuisine Jason Labahn. It was a really interesting, fun look at the cuts of meat.
The desserts were pretty spectacular including mini baked Alaskas (below), sundaes, butter cream cakes, and truffles.
It was a fun party packed to the gills. The food and atmosphere was good. I wonder how the restaurant will do with a relatively small dining space and massive, centrally located nightclub style bar. Glowbal continues to venture into wildly lavish ventures in dining.
