After work drinks and oysters at Rodney's Oyster House in Yaletown on May 30, 2011.
After work, Sophia and I beat it down to Yaletown for some drinks and oysters with industry peers Chin Chin Ho and Melissa Guillergan to talk shop after our adventures at Guilt and Company. It was so much fun. We came down for happy hour and the $1.50 oyster specials fresh from the ocean.
I thought the guy servers were a little too aggressive off the bat. They basically asked you really abruptly for everyone in the party's drink order before we even sat down.
It was kind of oft-putting. They did, otherwise, offer good service. I had an ice cold cream ale which I downed as some sweet relief after a long day at the office.
After that, everyone had a round of delicious Caesar cocktails. It was spicy, fresh, and tasty. I loved the giant prawn that came with it.
Their selection of sauces for the oysters and garnishes were sweet. We also tried the pan fried oysters and scallop galette (crispy potato encrusted scallops). Both were solid.
I was packed full of oysters and alcohol after leaving feeling chipper. The desserts were also really good.
The New York cheesecake and banana crème brûlée were delicious and perfect to share. I really enjoyed the experience and I don't really even like oysters or drink Caesars.
These were probably the first oysters I've had in over five years. I thought Rodney's was an interesting, fun place to drink and dine on seafood. It was lively and suitably raucous.
