Apothic Red wine launch party on the Vancouver Art Gallery rooftop pavilion on June 24, 2011.
I was invited to start my weekend in style atop the art gallery rooftop for Apothic Red's local wine launch.
It was certainly wine o' clock as we sampled some tasty red enjoying the beautiful, scenic view overlooking Robson Square.
As I often say, I'm not a wine drinker at all and have only recently taken it up at all these events, but I really enjoyed the Apothic Red blend of three grapes from California.
It went down well, tasted smooth, and nice.
I hopped downtown as the bikers were amassing out front along with Colene to enjoy the delightful sights and sounds of the art gallery mixed with wine and fine food.
The house magician (yeah, apparently that's an actual thing) walked around performing amusing card tricks. Admittedly, they were quite impressive.
Everything was lovely as they kept the red theme prevalent, but tastefully subdued.
I liked the casual nature of the party with only a couple speeches that were short and sweet, making it easy for mingling about.
The food was superb. They had a ton of tiny, tasty hors d'œuvres and a full cheese and meat sampler that had ample fixings to make delicious, miniature, fancy sandwiches.
The desserts were insane. The chocolates, brownies, and chocolate covered cherries were incredible and complimented the wine very well.
I enjoyed four glasses of the featured wine myself, but was no match to Dennis' mammoth nine glass effort.
It was a really fun night, great Friday start to the weekend, and one of the better events I've been to in quite some time.
